My New Years resolution for Curtain Up Cookie Design is to make cookies
for a Broadway show every month of the year!
for a Broadway show every month of the year!
Introducing the BROADWAY PROJECT!
For January I chose the new Broadway play Stick Fly.
This family drama by Lydia R. Diamond has a star-filled (and super talented) cast, and deals with the tension between family members when the two sons bring their girlfriends to the family's summer home on Martha's Vineyard for a weekend. DRAMAAA
I made a bunch of cookies based on the show's logo (Gingerbread).
AND I MADE COOKIE POPS!
The younger son's girlfriend, Taylor, studies insects for a living.

You know how we look at flies? I mean, you know you can‘t just follow a fly around with a video-cam, it‘s too fast. Film, even digital can‘t pick up the nuances of a fly in motion. So, we glue a fly to a stick.

Really?
TAYLOR
Yeah. Pretty much a popsicle stick, with crazy glue. Plain ole‘ crazy glue.
Hence the name of the play, AND THESE COOKIES (Sugar):
Ok, they look a little creepy, but they sure tasted good!
My friend Michael (of Theater in the Now) is the Production Assistant on the show, and he brought me backstage to present the cookies to the company.
With Dulé Hill, who plays SPOON
AND I got to use my Photo Box, and I'm so happy with how the pictures came out!
We played the cast in Broadway Bowling that night, and they raved about the cookies.
This year is off to a good start!
Stay tuned for February's show!
