Valentines Nutella Sugar Cookies

Now, let's get real about Nutella. It is quite possibly the best thing is this whole world. A while back I came across this recipe (if you dare to let these enter your kitchen, the actual recipe is here) and nearly fainted from anticipated deliciousness. I knew I HAD to try it, and along comes Valentine's Day (it's the middle of February already???) and a prefect opportunity to give it a go.

Exciting news! Trader Joes just came out with their own version of Nutella, a Cocoa Almond Spread. SO good. I used it for these cookies.

OK. Here we go. What you do is you scoop small globs of Nutella onto a piece of parchment (I made mine into a heart shape to fit the cookies, using an icing bag & tip), and then you put them in the freezer for 15 minutes.

When you take them out, the Nutella is hard enough to peel off of the parchment and place onto the cookie, but it melts very quickly, so I could only get about 8 of them off the sheet before I had to stick them back in the freezer.

When you've got all your cookies Nutella'd, you make a sandwich with another cookie on top, and pinch the edges together, all the way around, making a delicious cookie pouch for your Nutella filling.

Stick 'em in the oven (I put them in the freezer for a bit beforehand so they would keep their shape better), and voila. The most delicious thing to ever hit your lips. And just imagine them right out of the oven. To. Die. For.

Happy Valentine's Day!
