The 2012 Broadway Project finally comes to a close with December's Project (I realize it's already mid/late January :P). The Broadway Project will be revived from time to time in 2013, but I am proud to say that Curtain Up Cookie Design fulfilled our 2012 New Year's Resolution of making cookies for a Broadway show every month of the year! Check out a recap of all the cookies here!
I thought I'd round out the year with one of the most fun shows of 2012:
If you haven't seen this show, GO NOW!
It has been slightly revised from the movie (which you also NEED to see, if you haven't),
but it is still packed full of great songs and insane dancing
(Tony Winner for Best Choreography, and rightly so).

(Too big for the photo box!)
In 1899, the Newsies spend their days Carrying the Banner:
Until the publisher raises the price they have to pay for the papes, and they go on strike, scrawling the word across the News chalkboard, and becoming the news themselves!

I had a lot of fun with the chalkboards. I used off-white luster dust and painted the words on the "boards" with a toothpick, then rubbed dry luster dust across the whole board to get a chalk dust effect.
Jake Lucas and Nicholas Lampiasi, who alternate the role of Les, get a first look at the cookies!

And it looks like the cast had a great time with them!
